Torah: Shabbat Chol Hamoed Pesach – and “The Fifth Child”

Please join us on Saturday morning at 9:30 for Shabbat worship and Torah study.

Passover 2019 – The Fifth Child

What about the Fifth Child, the one who doesn’t even come to the Seder or doesn’t even know that there is a Seder? Or has bad memories or associations with the Seder? With Judaism? What about him? Or her? What is their place in all of this? Do they, in fact, have a place at the Seder table? At the table of Judaism?

And what is our role in Jewish life, in fulfilling our obligation to take the initiative, as our Sages in the Talmud command, v’at p’tach lo, to open up for him? To wake her up? To open up a dialogue? A conversation? A relationship?

Haftarah: Isaiah 10:32 – 12:6.
