Second Day of Sukkot

September 22

Second Day of Sukkot

Five days after Yom Kippur we begin a period of the Jewish calendar called “The Time of Our Joy” (Z’man Simchatenu). The holidays of Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, and Simchat Torah constitute this joyful time. We express our joy and gratitude on Sukkot by blessing and waving the lulav and the etrog, symbols of the harvest; by building a Sukkah and eating in it; and by extending hospitality to friends and family.

On Shabbat morning, September 25, our Shabbat and Festival service will be followed by Kiddush lunch in the Sukkah.

All are invited to Rabbi Maralee Gordon and Leo Schlos-
berg’s Open Sukkah/Open House, Sunday afternoon, September 26 (1:00 – 4:00 p.m.,) for some great food in a beautifully colorful sukkah.
