Jewish law and custom create time for grief and provide a methodology for grieving. The Jewish approach to bereavement is based on respect for the powerful emotions of loss. Mourners are given a structure to encourage feeling their loss, and thus heal.
At MCJC, we work closely with individuals and families who have experienced the loss of a loved one. MCJC members Herb and Eileen Franks founded the McHenry County Jewish Cemetery in 2009 through the Franks Family Foundation. The MCJC cemetery is located on a serene setting on a hilltop at the Oakland Cemetery in Woodstock, IL, a mature cemetery that dates back to 1859.
