Strategic Plan

MISSION, VISION, & VALUES

Our Mission:

McHenry County Jewish Congregation provides an environment for spiritual connection, learning, celebration, and social action enabling Jews of all backgrounds to connect to our heritage, our community, and our future.

Our Vision:

To be the heart of Jewish life in the McHenry County and surrounding areas through education, worship, social action, and community-building.

Our Values:

• Education: To provide joyous, interactive, and enriching educational opportunities for adults and children to increase their knowledge of Judaism, while instilling a sense of pride in our Jewish identity and heritage.

• Worship: To facilitate and guide the religious customs and practices of our congregation, and to create a spiritual Jewish model that can be translated to home observance in areas including Kashrut, Mezuzah and B’rachot.

• Social Action: To strive to find opportunities to fulfill the Jewish mandate of tikkun olam, repair (heal) the world, by connecting our members with volunteer services and tzedakah opportunities that impact the needs of all people — Jews and non-Jews — wherever they live.

• Build Community:  Build relationships and connections to support each other in times of need and celebrate each other in times of joy; to communicate with; respond to and assist our member families; to inform them of new programs and opportunities; and to maintain our synagogue so that it may serve as a safe and welcoming house of worship; learning and community celebration.
