Purim Shabbat

March 18 proved to be a wonderful evening!  Lou Dolmon led a lovely Shabbat service which was followed by our Purim skit, the Queen Esther story to a parody of “The Wizard of Oz.”  We had about forty friends IN PERSON AT MCJC, and close to twenty homes on Zoom.  It was so wonderful to see everybody, and especially to be inside our synagogue with friends! Following our skit, we all enjoyed a kiddush in the sanctuary to include Ellen Morton's homemade challah, and delicious hamantashen brought in by Sunshine Roth!

Now to thank our incredible cast members with a few personal notes:

*To Lou Dolmon:  You were Rabbi for the evening, narrator, camera, and zoom man......all while recently out of a sling from shoulder surgery.  Your new name is "Lou of All Trades!"  Thank you so much for all your hard work!

*To Scott Schwartz:  As our newest member, thank you for volunteering to be King AZ.  You did a great job and it was wonderful having your family all there!

*To Ilene Kaye:  We really enjoyed your rendition of Dorothy-Esther.  Your acting and singing skills always shine through; you did a truly amazing job!

*To Ellen Morton:  You were pretty in PINK and did a great job as Vashti.  It was so hard to banish you from the kingdom, but you "drank" your way through it!  Thank you so much for your delicious challah, too.

*To Larry Steinberg:  You'll have to fight it out next year with Steve Boress for who plays Haman, as you're both wonderful.  You did an astounding job, looked and acted the part, and were truly MEAN!

*To Elaine Steinberg:  We all loved you as Haman's wife, Zeresh.  I think you missed your calling … you should be a comedic actress.  You were SO funny!

*To Norm Eskoz:  I think our 6'2" MUNCHKIN got some good laughs from our group, including at home on Zoom, I've been told!  Now you'll have to be in our Purim show again next year, as you did a great job!

*To Lea Grover:  What can I say?  You stepped up literally in the last hour to be Mordecai when we learned we needed a substitute.  You managed to create a costume, get your whole family there, and do a great acting job.  Kudos and thanks to you!

*To Sunshine Roth:  You were so cute as Aunt Em, and did a lovely job!  And thank you SO very much for the wonderful basket of hamantashen, which was enjoyed by all!

*To Davina Kelly:  You were the cutest, and SMARTEST Scarecrow that I've ever met!  You did a great job, and truly deserved your official diploma from the king!

*To Muriel Pick:  You were perfect in the Tin Man role!  And I loved your props … the tin can, and the homemade tin foil hat out of a traffic cone.  How original!

*As for me:  I'll just say that I really enjoyed coordinating our show this year, was thrilled to see so many friends at MCJC after such a long time, and had a lot of fun playing Cowardly Lion.  Ggggrrrrrroooowwwwlllll!

Thank you again to all of our cast, to our friends who attended in person or on zoom, to our helpers at the event, and to those who donated food.  All of this made my job that much easier.  I'll be approaching you all for Purim next year!  😊
