Religious School News by Davina Kelly

In February we hosted CKI’s Religious School at our Tu B’Shevat celebration. We began with a lively discussion about trees and what they do for us. Then we enjoyed a traditional seder with four shades of grape juice, tastings of fruits and nuts, and tree-themed songs. We wrapped up the morning with seed planting. Fun was had by all!

Another highlight of our winter was when we learned about Jewish American sculptors who were pioneers in their artwork. We then tried our hands at sculpting with foam blocks, with creative and interesting results. Our older students have continued to work on Hebrew prayers and Jewish moral dilemmas with Rabbi Donni.

We look forward to celebrating Purim in March. Our students will put on a readers’ theater of the Purim story for family and congregants. We will also sing songs and bake hamantaschen. Additionally, we plan to do a holiday Tzedakah project.
