Habitat for Humanity Update

While you are reading this, it is late Spring/early Summer, and with beautiful weather.

Writing this, Winter/Spring continues in the area.  One day 70, and the next 35.  Through all this we continue to build and rebuild homes in McHenry County.  At a site on March 16, the sun was shining and we were all working in short sleeves.  During the last week in March at the same site, everyone was bundled up against the cold rain we had off and on during the morning.  After lunch, we looked at the radar and it was determined that we would have to call it quits once the afternoon rain arrived.  We got in another two hours of work, and in that time we erected the second exterior wall of the house under construction.  This is house Number Two in the Marengo build site.  The first one is roofed and waiting for material to begin interior work, while the third is next in line for construction.

Since the weather should be conducive for outside work, please consider joining the Habitat crew as we help support our neighbors with affordable housing.  For information on volunteering, please contact volunteers@habitatmchenry.org.  We are always looking for help.  You don’t have to know anything about construction or bring anything (except for lunch) but your willingness to help support our goal.  Someone please join me; there hasn’t been anyone other than myself volunteering from our MCJC community in a very long time.
